Janary 5th, 2012

Dear WTKO members and instructors,

We wish you all a wonderful New Year!

2011 was a year of growth and change for us with new members joining from around the world and in the U.S. and great interest being shown in the activities and events of the WTKO in general.

Most notable is the strong demand in South America for our brand of Shotokan karate. Our friends in South America supporting and committing to the WTKO include Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela along with Carlos Ramirez sensei from Mexico who has kindly liaised for us with the requests we have had from the continent.

Jon Keeling sensei and Pete Rabbitt sensei from California have been friends for many years and now are full members, sparking interest from other States around the U.S.

International seminars by Mullin sensei, Ubl sensei and Amos sensei continue to be well attended and demand for their teaching is at an all time high.

We also have a new Honbu Dojo located in the middle of Manhattan on 61st St. This is both the WTKO Honbu and Richard Amos sensei's personal dojo, it has an intimate atmosphere and is perfectly suited for intensive, small classes. Feel free to visit when you are in the city.

Looking forward to 2012 and beyond, things appear to be even more positive. Scott Middleton sensei as General Secretary will be spear-heading our new affiliation system; Amos sensei will be conducting seminars every month somewhere in Europe or the Americas and other seminars are slated for not just Mullin sensei and Ubl sensei but also several other instructors in our network. In addition, plans are taking shape for the International WTKO Training Camp & Championship 2013, Switzerland - this will be the first time the WTKO has organized an event of this nature, it will be in July, 2013 and we hope that all the WTKO members will attend the training and compete in the friendly competition. The Championship will not be open to those who do not participate in the seminar.

We are excited about today and the future and believe we represent a strong, traditional Shotokan Karate-do that is dedicated to constant training with sincerity and honesty and no agenda other than the love of the art and a desire to refine and improve. This approach is what drives us and appeals to those who are looking for genuine and intelligent karate-do.

We hope you will join us on this karate path!
